Jon Gruden is the ferocious, razor-sharp-tongued coach who says what he thinks with little to no filter. Because of this characteristic, he is adored by many. When the story initially broke, numerous people agreed with starting quarterback Derek Carr, ““Us as a team, we’re like, ‘Yeah, Coach, it was 10 years ago. We love you, man. We got your back,'”. Derek Carr is right in that these emails occurred over the course of 10 years. But does time truly heal all wounds? Even if those wounds or words are racist, misogynistic, and homophobic? Is this a 'guys will be guys' situation? Was this simply “locker room talk”? No, no, no, and no. In fact, the first active NFL player to share that he is gay, Carl Nassib plays or better worded “played” for Gruden.

Yes, it's unfortunate that these remarks were made ten years ago, but as a leader in one of the world's most diverse sports leagues with the ability to significantly impact the life of another human being, this is purely unacceptable.
