Our Commitment To Do Better Starts With Dedicated Partners

As we start off the month of April and shift our attention to Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), Healthy Tiger continues to present our challenges to our family and friends in a transparent and meaningful way. We believe this to be more than just a moment or a month where we highlight the plight of sexual assault victims and survivors. It is a time for all of us to dig in and explore the ways to change our culture. So in the midst of significant concerns, I see hope and a future that is transformational. To assist in our efforts, a STAR is born.

STAR® (Sexual Trauma Awareness and Response®) is a nonprofit sexual assault center based in Louisiana. STAR was founded in 2012, but its roots extend back to 1975 when the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney’s Office established the Stop Rape Crisis Program.

Since 2012, STAR’s Founder and CEO, Racheal Hebert, has led the organization through much growth and development to better meet the needs of survivors of sexual assault in Louisiana. Though STAR was initially located only in Baton Rouge, it now has offices in New Orleans and Alexandria as well, serving survivors of sexual trauma in three regions across Central and South Louisiana. In addition to providing services to individuals and families affected by sexual violence, STAR works with businesses and organizations to create community and culture change to end sexual violence.
