May 2021 Diversity Supplier Round-Up

The month of May was busy as the last few sports teams pushed closer to their season’s end. On the business side of things, the Diverse Supplier Council continued to reach out to the community to build important relationships. Virtual vendor fairs have been a great way to connect with motivated businesses, so hosting one in May was another good opportunity! “Doing Business with LSU,” was our most recent fair that hosted close to 50 vendors designed to guide businesses through the process of engaging with LSU Athletics and Procurement. The Athletic Department met with the Women's Business Enterprise Council- South (WBECs) to help improve its diverse supplier options for women-owned businesses and to developing importnat connection. Vendor Spotlight:

Based in New Orleans, WBEC South is involved with women-owned businesses operating out the southern region mainly covering Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida. Founded in 1994 as the Women’s Business Council, additional development and expansion ultimately led to the development of WBEC South in 2008. This platform provides women a resource to gain an understanding of the certification process for state contracts and provides educational workshops to strengthen supplier diversity partnerships.
