Supplier Diversity - February Update

The LSU Athletics supplier diversity volunteers have continued to push their initiative forward. February marked another successful month, reaching new milestones and gaining momentum throughout the entire athletic department.

After January’s meeting with the directors of operations and department heads, many of these key stakeholders reached out to the supplier diversity volunteers to learn more about how they could improve. Numerous departments have begun to utilize diverse vendors, taking advantage of the resources the supplier diversity volunteers have created.

During the month of February, LSU Athletics crossed a huge milestone on its supplier diversity journey: $200,000 spent with minority or woman owned businesses. Additionally, the department has now used 32 different diverse suppliers.

Another important resource that was recently compiled is a list of minority owned restaurants in the towns of other SEC schools. This will allow sports teams to improve their supplier diversity while they’re on the road, helping other communities in addition to our own. This list could not have happened without the help of Director of Volleyball Operations Blaire Hiler.

Below you will find our Diverse Spend report which shows our progress toward our 10% goal. Although we still have much work to do, we are at an all time high diverse spend percentage of 1.13%. Additionally, you can find our graph of Top 5 Departments for Diverse Spend. The Top 5 has not changed since our last update. However, there are many departments looking to break into the top 5 over the next few months.
