Juneteenth Celebration Template.jpg

LSU Athletics invites all students, staff, faculty, and fans to express themselves using their creative talent by participating in the 2021 Juneteenth Creative Arts Showcase. It is important that we engage, empower, reach, and teach our community to embrace the history of black people as we all heal, grow, and work toward creating a more inclusive community.

What is Juneteenth?

Juneteenth is a celebration honoring the day when General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 with news that the war had ended and to inform enslaved African Americans of their freedom. Juneteenth honors the end of slavery in the United States and commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement.
